If you are married no..you can file married but filing separately tho.

You can file single even if she still lives with you, it's your choice on both the federal and state forms.

However, look close to the state form to be sure that some of the benefits from the state are not lost if you file separately.

Residency would be considered as where a person lived for six months in a particular place.

Whatever you choose, be sure you know also how your wife is filing.

The fact that your spouse isn't from "here" doesn't matter. All that matters is you are married and have to file married.
