How do I get a Tax Return Non-Filing Statement?!?!?

Postby zotico83 » Sun Mar 27, 2011 11:38 pm

Hello there!
I'm going to University soon and in order to get Financial Aid, they're asking that I prove that I am not legally required to file taxes. My parents filed their 2010 Tax Return. Would I be able to find a Non-Filing Statement for me in their tax return or do I have to ask for one from the IRS?

Send a Form 4506-T url_not_allowed.irs.gov/pub/irs-pdf/f4506t.pdf to the IRS and check box 7. Non filing statements for the current tax year are not available until after June 15th. If that's too late, you use tax year 2009 to file your FAFSA and update it when you get the 2010 non-filing statement.
