Medical diagnostic sonography?

Postby orlondo73 » Sun Mar 13, 2011 5:51 am

I am getting ready to start school and i am very interested in this program. I was wondering if anyone from this field or anyone who knows anything about this field could tell me the pros and cons. Also, if they enjoy it or how hard it was for you finding a job once you graduated. Any information would be helpful. Thanks. Also, Salary would be nice to know as well. :)

Good pay, very rewarding but it is more an art than strictly diagnostic.

Sonography is an awesome field to be in - it is a career that you can get into with just an associate's degree, the pay is good ($63k/yr on avg), it can be flexible, and it's a challenging field so it does not get boring. It's critical that you find an accredited Diagnostic Medical Sonography program to go through - url_not_allowed.caahep.org/Find-An-Accredited-Program/
Many students get hired on somewhere they have done a clinical rotation at - it's a great time to market yourself and show your potential to a possibly employer.

Great site - url_not_allowed.bls.gov/oco/ocos273.htm
