When you send your tax return to the IRS using Turbo Tax and you efile it,what does ACCEPTED mean?Does that mean its been accepted by the IRS and approved or does it mean that it was just received and still needs to be processed?
I filed today, the 12th of January.I know it takes 8 to 14 days once the IRS accepts it for you to get it thru direct deposit.

All that it means is that the TurboTax system has received it. The IRS is not accepting returns yet and won't until the 14th. TurboTax will then send your return to the IRS. IF the IRS accepts the return, TT will send you an e-mail that will include the DCN for your return.

When the IRS accepts your return, all that it means is that it passed a first check for gross errors, such as duplicate SSNs or name-to-SSN mismatches. Your return may still be pulled for further evaluation or kicked back to you for correction of other errors.

The first round of refunds is scheduled out on Jan 28th. You won't see yours before then.

It means that it has passed a few basic checks - ss#'s and names validated, and no double claims yet on dependents. There are additional checks after acceptance, so does not mean it's been approved. If nothing is questioned, refund will be sent on the published schedule. The IRS isn't accepting efiles until Friday.

It means that the IRS has successfully received your return in it's automated system - there were no formatting errors. It still needs to be processed.
