I want to file my taxes but some people tell me that I would probably not get money back because I'm single and I am not putting any dependents, they tell me that instead I will have to pay the IRS money.

if you have no dependents you certainly cannot claim any you are not eligible to claim
if you are single, with no dependents, your non taxable income is $9350, any excess will be taxable and the lowest rate is 10%
if you had any income tax withheld, box #2 on the W-2 that will apply to your income tax obligation
if you are 25 you may be eligible for EIC without dependents depending on the amount of your earned income and you have the Make Work Pay credit
